Who We Are

The Pomegranate is run by a team of five moms who have been reading and writing on the internet for an undisclosed amount of time (probably too much). Every month we publish a series of essays about modern parenting. Our editorial team writes the bulk of our content, and we are open to guest pitches.

Our Team

Lucy Huber is a freelance writer and editor at McSweeney’s. She lives with her husband Matt and their two kids, Elliot (4) and Winifred (2) in Silver Spring, MD. You might know her from Twitter or from IRL, in either case she’s sorry for talking so much. If there is an opportunity to pet a horse, she will take it.

Amy Colleen writes about literature, life with wild little boys, and the humor of the everyday at Something Funny, Something True. Her work has appeared in Pregnant Chicken and The Belladonna, as well as in far too many social media posts (you can find her most often these days at amycolleen.bsky.social). She has read everything Jane Austen ever wrote, but cannot bring herself to wholly finish the Terms and Conditions of anything.

Kristen Mulrooney is a humor writer and editor of The Belladonna. Her writing has appeared in The New Yorker, and she’s the exasperated voice behind the Letters to Moms column in McSweeney’s. Kristen is the author of Barbie IRL as well as the forthcoming How Not to be a Basic Peasant. When she’s not writing, she’s watching old sitcoms with laugh tracks, rereading The Baby-Sitters Club, and crying over her kids’ elementary school math homework. You can check out her every waking thought at kristenmulrooney.bsky.social.

Lauren Ahmed lives in Cleveland with her two kids, ages 2 and 4, her husband, and her well-meaning dog. She works full time in VC as a chief of staff, where she writes a bunch of things that aren’t personal essays. She is mostly known as someone who had a moderately-sized following on parenting Twitter before leaving to remain a nobody on Bluesky. You can find her there at laureneahmed.bsky.social.

Sarah is a writer and stay-at-home mom living in Vancouver, Canada. Best known on social media for her humorous takes on raising wild kids, keeping parenting fun, and dodging AI, Sarah is always the first to jump into a pool and last to get out. Her work has appeared all over the Instagram meme accounts, BuzzFeed, and HuffPost, but you can find her a week before they do at sarahradz.bsky.social.

We publish at least two free posts every month. The remaining posts are behind a paywall because kids are expensive and we have bills to pay.
